Very little can compare to the draw of fresh baked cookies coming from the oven. The magical sent of fresh made cookies wafting through the air brings in children from wherever they are playing. As the fragrant aroma fills flows throughout the house on a gentle breeze the unmistakable sound of running feet can be heard, followed by little voices asking innocently, can I have a cookie? That smell of fresh from the oven cookies is one that brings back a flood of memories for children of all ages, as they recall happy times spent at the kitchen table hovering over a glass of cold milk with a hot chocolate chip cookie in one hand. There is something inherently comforting about the taste of freshly baked cookies. Is it the warm melted chocolate chips that fill the taste buds with tantalizing flavors? Or is it the chewy texture of the cookie dough as it falls apart inside the mouth? Perhaps it is the satisfying sensation of the combination of cold milk and warm chocolate together that gives the feeling that no matter what the day has been like, everything is as it should be in that moment. Even for those that are caught up in the day to day grind of work, school and children the fragrant scent of a cookie can transcend time and space, easing the days tensions and giving the sense that everything will be okay. Whether walking in the mall or sitting at the kitchen table the reassurance that a warm cookie gives can be felt by those that are permitted to bask in the presence of fresh ingredients baked to perfection and served up warm with a friendly smile. Who knew a cookie could bring so much joy to a person?
